World record holder Tobi Amusan cruised into the final of the women’s 100-metre hurdles event at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana, on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old was evidently on another level compared to her challengers as she finished her semifinal heat with a winning time of 13.03 seconds.

Amusan, who has been in impressive form since losing her world champion title, is the favourite to win the event as she continues to close in on a third consecutive gold medal in the women’s hurdles race.
Faith Osamuyi, who ran 13.55s to finish in second place in the first heat, will be the other Nigerian in the final, after Ayomide Ayanleke finished fifth in heat 2 with a time of 15.09 seconds.
In the final, Amusan will have to compete with Madagascar’s Fiadanantsoa Sidonie, who ran a blistering 13.19 seconds, the second overall best time, if she is to win her third title at the Games.
