The Falconets of Nigeria began the defence of their African Games gold medal with a comfortable 2-0 Group B win over Morocco in Cape Coast on Friday night.
The Nigerian U-20 ladies were victorious at the last edition in Rabat when they defeated Cameroon on penalties for their third gold medal in the competition as the most successful side.
Christopher Danjuma’s ladies wasted no time against the Moroccans as Fatima Bambara put the ball into her own net in the 19th minute before Adoo Yina doubled Nigeria’s lead two minutes to the half time break.
The victory comes as a relief for Nigerian fans after the Flying Eagles lost 2-1 to Uganda in the men’s Group B contest on Thursday.
