Equatorial Guinea have been potentially denied the chance to finish top of Group J in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after being held to a 1-1 draw by Libya Benghazi on Wednesday.
The National Thunder are already guaranteed of a place in next year’s final in the Ivory Coast alongside Tunisia but had the chance to cement pole position in the group in the final round of fixtures.
Maximum points was going to guarantee that as just two points separated both the Guineans and Tunisians. It looked like the former were poised to take those three points when Jose Elo gave them the lead just past the hour mark.
Libya however equalised with 10 minutes to go thanks to Al Ahly Benghazi midfielder Husain Taqtaq.
