Cameroon wrapped up the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a comfortable 3-0 win over Burundi in Group C on Tuesday.
Both the Indomitable Lions and the Swallows were tied on four points going into this game while Namibia sat on top with five points.
Kenya’s absence from the group due to a FIFA suspension for government interference in the country’s football affairs made things thougher but home advantage at Stade Roumde Adjia in Garoua clearly favoured the Cameroonians.
After a goalless first half, Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo put Rigobert Song’s side in front at the resumption of the second half. Rennes defender Christopher Wooh doubled Cameroon’s lead on the hour mark before veteran forward Vincent Aboubakar completed the scoring in added time.
