It has to be said that the infrastructure that has been developed in Qatar in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is staggering and will offer visitors a unique experience that few other countries in the world can match.
The stadiums for the World Cup represent the pinnacle of modern engineering and they are a testament to the might of Arab culture.
25 days to the opening ceremony in Qatar and you can almost feel the passion and the tension mix together. We will be taking a look at the magnificent structures that will be hosting every match of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
A unique design to rival the best in the world,Al Bayt Stadium’ role as host for the World Cup’s opening match was assured from its first design sketch.
Qatar turned to its rich culture to welcome the world – inviting guests to enjoy the traditional comfort custom demanded in this region for centuries.
The stadium’s beautiful tent structure envelops an ultra-modern football stadium and was inspired by the bayt al sha’ar of Qatar’s nomadic people. The tents can be recognized by their distinctive black and white stripes. The vivid sadu designs that welcome visitors inside and the arena’s striking exterior both reflect this.
Al Bayt Stadium was built with sustainability in mind, and the upper deck was intended to be dismantled following the competition to enable the repurposing of seats.
A permanent legacy from the most hospitable stadium in the world is ensured by the numerous parks, lakes, and protected greenbelt area that reach from the stadium to the sea in the neighbouring city of Al Khor.
The stadium’s modular upper tier will be transformed into a variety of facilities after the World Cup is over. A five-star hotel will be built on the sky box level, and the building will also have a multipurpose auditorium, gym, shopping center, and food court.
On the premises of the stadium, a branch of the renowned Aspetar hospital for sports medicine will open, along with a park, a jogging and cycling track, a playground, coffee shops, and restaurants.
The stadium’s capacity will be decreased from 60,000 to 32,000 in order to accommodate all the facilities.
