Aliyu Zubairu, head coach of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, has released a 20-man squad ahead of the WAFU B U20 Boys Championship set to take place in Ghana, Afrosport reports.
Zubairu, who led Nigeria to a third-place finish at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in May, has named a strong squad to help the Flying Eagles navigate the upcoming tournament.
Captain Daniel Bameyi makes the shortlist alongside teenage goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt, who was recently called up to the Super Eagles B side by head coach Eric Chelle.
Other notable invitees include Abdullahi Muhammed of newly-crowned Federation Cup champions Kwara United, Odinaka Okoro, Ahmed Akinyele, and Rawa Mohammed.
The Nigerian contingents arrived in neighbouring Ghana on Tuesday, following an extended period of intensive training in Abuja, with the WAFU B U20 Championship slated to take place from Thursday, 10 July, to Wednesday, 23 July.
The Flying Eagles have been drawn in Group A and will kick off their campaign against hosts Ghana on the opening day, before facing Benin Republic in their other group game on 13 July.
