Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka, Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, and Turkey-based Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are all expected on Wednesday. Onyeka and Iheanacho both had visa issues, which have been sorted out, while new invitee Bashiru had his ticket rerouted and is also expected to join up with the rest of the team.
Israel-based Adeleye Adebayo is one of two unconfirmed arrivals, as the goalkeeper is trying to get a flight out of the country due to the ongoing war, while Enyimba’s Olorunleke Ojo and some of the other contingent from Nigeria are awaiting their visas and will join up with the team in due time.
The Eagles are gearing up for a doubleheader of friendlies that will see them face the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia on Friday, October 13, at Estadio Municipal de Portimao. Three days later, Jose Peseiro’s men will take on Mozambique on Monday, October 16, at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira.
Nigeria, whose opponents at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations will be decided on Thursday, will partake in both friendly matches as part of the preparation for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in November.
