West Ham reach personal agreement with free agent Walker-Peters

West Ham United have agreed personal terms with Kyle Walker-Peters after he departed from Southampton at the end of June, Afrosport reports.

The 28-year-old English full-back of Jamaican heritage had been on the books of the Saints since 2020 but opted not to renew his contract after the south coast club were relegated back to the Championship, finishing bottom of the Premier League standings.

He made 202 appearances for Southampton, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists. He was previously on the books of Tottenham Hotspur, where his career began as a youth player, making just 24 appearances as a first-team player.

Walker-Peters was close to joining Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas, but they walked away from a potential deal after he delayed his medical when West Ham declared their interest in him.

He will become the Hammer’s third summer signing after Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague and Jean-Clair Todibo, whose loan move from OGC Nice was made permanent.
