Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets got off to a flying start at the WAFU-B U17 Championship following a commanding 4-1 win over Benin on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
A stunning hat-trick from George Agha and a brilliant free-kick by David Edeh handed the five-time world champions a deserved win over the Baby Cheetahs in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire.

The Eaglets wasted no time in stamping their authority, with Agha converting from the penalty spot just three minutes in, after Boluwatife Thompson was brought down in the box.
Two minutes later, Edeh showcased his class, curling home a superb free-kick to double Nigeria’s advantage. Agha then added his second of the evening in the 14th minute to put Manu Garba’s side firmly in control with a commanding 3–0 lead.
The Eaglets continued to press, and their dominance paid off once more in the 32nd minute. After a slick exchange between Thompson and Edeh, Agha pounced to complete his hat-trick, capitalising on a lapse in judgement from Benin goalkeeper Warris Soumanou.
Benin did manage to pull one back on the stroke of half-time when Jeremy Zannou’s low drive found the bottom corner, but it proved only a consolation as Nigeria cruised to victory.
