Nigeria’s Flying Eagles booked their place in the final of the WAFU B U20 Boys Championship on Sunday after edging past Niger Republic 4-3 on penalties, Afrosport reports.
Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s boys were held to a goalless draw after 120 minutes of gritty, hard-fought football. Niger’s defence stood tall, frustrating every move the Flying Eagles threw at them inside the Prampram Technical Centre in Ghana.

Nigeria maintained their unbeaten record in the group stage—starting with a 1-1 draw against hosts Ghana and then putting on a show with a 4-1 demolition of Benin Republic to seal a semi-final ticket.
The Flying Eagles failed to find the back of the net for the first time in the tournament, and were forced into penalties to decide the winner of the tie.
Teenage goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt once again rose to the occasion. The Sporting Lagos shot-stopper pulled off two big saves during the shoot-out, guiding Nigeria into the final and earning himself the Player of the Match award.
