Ghana moved into the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations following a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Algeria after a goalless 120 minutes on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
The Blank Queens finished second in Group C behind reigning champions South Africa while the Desert Foxes finished second in Group B behind the Super Falcons.
Very little separated both teams during the contest in Berkane, with Algeria having the lion’s share of possession (56%) while Ghana produced more total shots (16) compared to their opponents (7).
The most noteworthy moment in the match came in the 27th minute when Stella Nyamekye put the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside by VAR.
