Egypt once again underlined their dominance in African table tennis, claiming both the men’s and women’s team titles at the 2025 ITTF Africa Championships in Tunis, Afrosport reports.
Led by Omar Assar, Egypt’s men’s team reclaimed the crown by defeating Algeria in the final, having edged out defending champions Nigeria in the semi-finals.
The women’s team rode on the form of Hana God to retain their title with a commanding 3–0 victory over Uganda, securing their 18th continental crown — the most in tournament history.

Uganda made history by becoming the first East African nation to reach the women’s final, overcoming Nigeria 3–1 before settling for silver. In the men’s event, Morocco and Nigeria both took bronze.
In the singles, Assar became the first player to win the men’s title five times, while Goda made history as the youngest and first to win the women’s title three years in a row.
Egypt also completed a clean sweep in the doubles, winning the Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles titles.
