Umar Sadiq: Super Eagles forward makes Valencia debut in Copa del Rey win

Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq made his debut for Valencia as they recored a 2-0 win over Eldense in the Copa del Rey round of 32 on Tuesday night, Afrosport reports.

Sadiq joined Los Che on loan from Real Sociedad for the rest of the season but started the game from the bench.

The 27-year-old came on for Hugo Duro in the 58th minute as Sergi Canos and Diego Lopez scored in the first half.

He almost made it 3-0 in the 75th minute but his effort was ruled out for offside by VAR.

Speaking after the game about Umar Sadiq, newly-appointed Valencia coach Carlos Corberan said: “From the first day he has come with the necessary attitude and mentality to play in Valencia CF.

“Whoever comes must come with that commitment and that intention to help. Today was a first step where you have demonstrated that attitude necessary for this moment ”.


The former Almeria striker will hope to be in action again when Valencia travel to Sevilla on Saturday night with the hope of moving closer out of the La Liga relegation zone where they currently sit in 19th place.
