UCL: PSG boss Enrique unfazed by Aston Villa’s home advantage for second leg tie

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is unfazed by Aston Villa’s home advantage ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg at Villa Park, Afrosport reports.

The French capital outfit won the first leg 3-1, giving them the edge in progressing to the semi-finals.

Home support is believed to be crucial in Villa’s chance of turning the tie around but Emery does not think it will be a problem for his team.

“For us, to compete at a stadium with a competitive tradition such as Villa Park it is very nice. We love to play football. We love to play football at home and away,” the Spaniard said.

“Our players are used to play at high-level stadiums. I wish for an evening with beautiful football and beautiful match. I don’t think the atmosphere here will be a problem, but rather a motivation for us.”

Luis Enrique added: “…When the game is over, there will only be one team in semifinals. The other team will be eliminated. These are such exciting competitions because of that. Because you have nothing to lose.

“In this case Aston Villa is behind in the tally. But there is still a second game to be played. And it’s evident that everything is still up in the air. Both teams know perfectly well these types of knockout stages. There isn’t a hint of feeling overconfident. On the contrary.”

PSG will be aiming to reach back-to-back Champions League semi-finals for the first time since the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
