Newcastle United had no trouble against Union Saint-Gilloise (USG) as they recorded a 4-0 win on Belgian soil in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
The Magpies came off the back a narrow 2-1 defeat to Spanish giants Barcelona in their opening league phase match at St. James’ Park a fortnight ago but were in front against USG after 17 minutes thanks to record singing Nick Woltemade off an assist from Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali.
The German striker became the first Newcastle player to score on his first Premier League and Champions League start for the club.
Eddie Howe’s men doubled their lead in the 43rd minute through Anthony Gordon from the penalty spot, and did so again from the spot in the 64th minute.
Substitute Harvey Barnes completed the scoring in the 80th minute after an assist from Danish forward of Nigerian heritage, William Osula.

The result gives the Tyneside outfit a confidence boost after narrowly losing 2-1 to Arsenal at home on Sunday in the Premier League and will now turn their attention to hosting Nottingham Forest on Sunday before the international break.
