Serhou Guirassy provided the assist for the winning goal as Borussia Dortmund came from behind to defeat Lille 2-1 and 3-2 on aggregate in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday night, Afrosport reports.
Both sides played out a 1-1 draw at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in the first leg last week and it was the French team that led at Signal Iduna Park through talisman Jonathan David in the fifth minute.
The tie remained in Lille’s favour until the 54th minute when Emre Can levelled the match from the penalty spot.
The game turned to Dortmund’s advantage 11 minutes later when Guirassy fed Maximilian Beier to smash the ball into the top corner of the net.
It took the Guinean forward to 14 goal involvements (10 goals, four assists) in the Champions League this season which is the joint-most by an African player along with Mohamed Salah during the 2017-18 season.
