Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has unveiled a 21-man squad for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, Afrosport reports.
The seven-time African champions are in search of their maiden title at this level, and the team, who left for South America on Sunday, are expected to partake in a 12-day training camp in Chile.
Zubairu has included a mix of home and foreign-based players in the squad, with captain Daniel Bameyi and goalkeeping hotshot Ebenezer Harcourt headlining the list.
Other key inclusions are Manchester City forward Abdullahi Shitu Ele, Royal Antwerp’s Achichi Oseer, and Norway-based Daniel Daga.
The Flying Eagles are drawn in Group F alongside Norway, Saudi Arabia and Colombia. They will begin their campaign against the Norwegians on 29 September at the Estadio Fiscal in Talca before facing Saudi Arabia on 2 October and Colombia on October 5.
This year’s U-20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 27 September to 19 October across four Chilean cities: Santiago, Rancagua, Valparaiso, and Talca.
Nigeria is one of four African representatives at the tournament, alongside South Africa, Morocco, and Egypt
