U-17 AFCON: Burkina Faso whoop Zambia to reach semi-finals

Burkina Faso were in dominant mood as they whooped Zambia 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday, Afrosport reports.

Mohamed Fofana and Asharaf Tapsoba put the the Burkinabe 2-0 up in the opening 21 minutes before Zambia pegged them back through Abel Nyirongo in the 35th minute.

The second half was a complete onslaught from the Young Stallions as Halidou Diakite scored a brace and Tapsoba scored another two to complete his hat-trick.

Burkina Faso have maintained their 100% record in the competition and have now progressed to the semi-finals where they will face either Tunisia or Mali.


In Thursday’s other quarter-final , hosts Morocco ended South Africa’s journey with a 3-1 victory.

Ismail El Aoud put the Moroccans in front in the 13th minute before Neo Bohloko equalised for the South Africans in the 54th minute.

The game tilted back in favour of the Young Atlas Lions as Ziyad Baha scored a brace within the space of one minute to send them through to the last four where they will face either Ivory Coast or Senegal.
