Tyson and Mayweather set for blockbuster 2026 exhibition fight in

Former world boxing champions Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are set to face each other in an exhibition fight next year in a yet-to-be-announced date and location, Afrosport reports.

Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight champion while Mayweather is an undefeated champion across five weight classes.

It will be second exhibition match Tyson will compete in since his professional career ended in 2005 after the defeat to Jake Paul last November.

“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets,” the 59-year-old said.

Meanwhile, Mayweather won titles across the super featherweight, lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight and light middleweight categories, and has competed in a number of exhibition bouts since his retirement in 2017, with his last outing coming against John Gotti III last August.

“You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary,” Mayweather stated.

“I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

Results in exhibition bouts do not count in a fighter’s career record neither is a winner formal declared.

The contests however tend to draw large audiences, with Tyson’s fight against Paul watched between 65 million to 120 million viewers on streaming platform Netflix.
