Stefanos Tsitsipas has reunited with his father, Apostolos, as his coach following a short-lived partnership with former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic, Afrosport reports.
The decision comes shortly after Tsitsipas was knocked out in the second round of the Canadian Open by Christopher O’Connell.
The collaboration with Ivanisevic lasted less than two months and ended abruptly. Ivanisevic, who helped Novak Djokovic to nine Grand Slam titles, was openly critical of Tsitsipas, questioning his professionalism and preparation after a disappointing first-round exit at Wimbledon.
Apostolos had coached Tsitsipas from a young age and was instrumental in his rise to world number three. However, their coaching relationship ended in 2024, during which time Tsitsipas’s ranking slipped to number 30 in the world.
Reflecting on the change, Tsitsipas shared a personal message on social media, describing the return to his father’s guidance as a meaningful step forward.
Despite past disagreements and a difficult separation, he acknowledged the influence his father has had on his career.
In recent comments, Tsitsipas admitted that working with his father has not always been easy, but he now sees value in returning to a more familiar and trusted setup as he looks to rebuild momentum in his career.
