AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Mohammed Kudus named Ghana captain for Sudan clash

Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday agreed to a £55 million deal for the transfer of Ghana international Mohammed Kudus from London rivals West Ham United, Afrosport reports.

Kudus will reportedly put pen to paper on a six-year contract with Tottenham, with the midfielder expected to undergo a medical in North London on Thursday.

The 24-year-old, born in Nima, Accra, rose through the famed Right to Dream Academy before securing a move to Denmark with FC Nordsjaelland in 2018. He caught the eye at Ajax, where he spent three seasons and won three titles, including the Eredivisie twice.

Kudus joined West Ham in August 2023 and has scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 80 games across all competitions for the Hammers, including 14 goals and nine assists in his debut season.

He led the Premier League in attempted dribbles (195), with a success rate of 47% last term, and his impending move to Spurs follows a steady progression in his blossoming career.

The midfielder made his international debut for Ghana in 2019 and has earned 42 caps for the Black Stars, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists.

Kudus is set to join as Tottenham’s fourth signing under new head coach Thomas Frank this summer. Spurs made the loan deals for Austrian defender Kevin Danso and French forward Mathys Tel permanent and completed the signing of Japan defender Kota Takai from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale.
