Bryan Mbeumo scored twice as Manchester United claimed an exciting 4–2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
The Cameroonian forward struck twice in the second half, adding to first-half goals from Matheus Cunha and Casemiro, to secure United’s third straight league win — their first such run since February 2024 under Erik ten Hag.
United started brightly, full of confidence after last weekend’s victory at Liverpool. Cunha opened his club account midway through the first half with a superb curling strike after a neat assist from Casemiro, who then doubled the lead ten minutes later with a deflected effort that wrong-footed Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.
Mbeumo extended the lead shortly after the hour mark, drilling a precise low finish into the corner to make it 3–0. However, Brighton fought back through Danny Welbeck’s stunning free-kick and Charalampos Kostoulas’ late goal, setting up a tense finish.
With the pressure on, Mbeumo stepped up once more, smashing home in the 97th minute to seal the points for United and spark wild celebrations inside Old Trafford.

Speaking after the match, the former Brentford star praised his new teammates and the supporters while reflecting on the team’s growing chemistry.
“I think we played a great game,” the 26-year-old told Sky Sports. “We are a bit disappointed to concede two goals but the most important is the win and in the end we did it.”
Mbeumo, who registered is fourth lesgue goal in nine outings for United, was full of admiration for the Old Trafford atmosphere, adding: “Honestly so good. The atmosphere is crazy here. The fans are unbelievable and it’s always good to score goals and especially here.
“I enjoy it a lot here. It hasn’t been easy at the start. It’s a new environment, a new expectation but I think with the automatism, with the link up with the team, I think everything is going the right way.
“The work we put in, the effort, the togetherness we give on the pitch is key and after we try to stick to the plan and we try to play as best as possible.”
On United moving up to fourth, he said: “I like the challenges, came here to a big club and we want to fight for the best places.”
The result lifts United into the top four for the first time under Ruben Amorim, with belief growing in the Portuguese manager’s era.
Brighton, on the other hand, saw their three-game winning streak at Old Trafford come to an end. But the Seagulls will aim to bounce back when they face Arsenal in the League Cup fourth round on Wednesday.
