Terem Moffi scores in OGC Nice pre-season win over Sheffield United

Terem Moffi was on the scoresheet as OGC Nice defeated Sheffield United 3-2 in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.

The French Ligue 1 club fell behind to a 29th-minute goal by Tyrese Campbell before Morgan Sanson equalised three minutes to the half-time break.

Moffi then gave Nice a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute with a clinical strike by lobbing the ball beyond goalkeeper Michael Cooper into the bottom left corner of the net.

The 26-year-old Nigerian striker will be hoping to put his injury worries behind him for the upcoming 2025-26 season after missing the bulk of the previous campaign due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

He returned towards the end of the season, making five appearances and scoring just once in the final game of the season in a 6-0 home win over Brest.

Sheffield United equalised in the 72nd minute through Nigerian midfielder Ehije Ukaki, but Nice were, however, able to score the winner seven minutes later through an own goal from Harrison Burrows.

Nice have now played six pre-season friendlies, winning four, drawing one and losing the other.

Their season proper will begin with a two-legged tie against Portuguese giants Benfica in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers on August 6 and 12 before commencing their Ligue 1 campaign at home against Toulouse on August 16.
