Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Tuesday held their first training session at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne ahead of their double-header friendly against Cameroon, Afrosport reports.

The nine-time African champions went through their paces under the guidance of coach Justin Madugu and a new Swedish trainer as 18 players were present for the session.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, defenders Osinachi Ohale and Michelle Alozie, midfielders Toni Payne and Deborah Abiodun, and forwards Francisca Ordega and Rinsola Babjide were pictured in Tuesday’s training session.

Five more players from the invited 23-player squad, including African Goalkeeper of the Year Chiamaka Nnadozie, Antionette Payne, and Ifeoma Onumonu, are expected to join up with the rest of their teammates.

The Super Falcons will face the Indomitable Lionesses twice as part of preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled to take place in Morocco in July 2025.

They will play Cameroon in the first friendly on Saturday, 31 May, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, while the second game is set for the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Tuesday, 3 June.
