Super Eagles to face Ghana, Jamaica in invitational tournament

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Egypt in an international friendly on 14 December at the Cairo International Stadium, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) confirmed.

The fixture will serve as part of both teams’ build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, which will take place between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026.

According to the EFA, the friendly was scheduled at the request of Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan, who wants to assess his side’s progress against one of Africa’s leading teams.

Egypt, seven-time AFCON champions, are also set to play in the UAE International Tournament in Dubai next month, where they will face Uzbekistan, Iran, and Cape Verde.

Meanwhile, Nigeria will take part in the African playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, meeting Gabon in the semi-finals for a chance to face either Cameroon or DR Congo in the final qualifying round.

The friendly will provide the Super Eagles will a test against North African opposition, having been drawn alongside Tunisia in Group C for the AFCON 2025 – Uganda and Tanzania are the other teams in the group.

Egypt, on the other hand, are in Group B, where they will face South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe.
