Tolu Arokodare is reportedly on the radar of Italian Serie A champions Napoli as a replacement for star striker Romelu Lukaku, who is currently nursing a thigh injury, Afrosport reports.
The big Belgian picked up the injury in the Partenopei’s pre-season friendly against Greek giants Olympiacos last Thursday, and is likely to have a lengthy spell on the sidelines that could be up to three months.
Napoli are therefore preparing a list of strikers they could bring to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona before the summer transfer window closes, with Arokodare’s name emerging.
According to Football Italia, Antonio Conte’s side have been monitoring the Nigeria international since the beginning of pre-season last month, before Lukaku’s injury.
Arokodare has been on the books of Genk since 2023 and has scored 41 goals and provided 12 assists in 112 competitive games for the Belgian side, including 23 goals and seven assists in 45 games during the 2024-25 campaign.
He made his debut for the Nigeria national team against Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March and also featured in the Unity Cup 2025 tournament in London, which the West African giants won by defeating Jamaica on penalties in the final.
He scored his first international goal in a 1-1 draw with Russia in Moscow in June.
Aside from Arokodare, Napoli are also looking at Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund as an option, as well as AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk.
