Spain boss de la Fuentes names 26-man squad for Nations League semi-finals

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuentes on Monday unveiled a 26-man squad for their UEFA Nations League semifinal clash against France, Afrosport reports.

The European champions will take on Les Bleus on Thursday, 5 June, at MHP Arena in Stuttgart, a day after the other semi-final between Germany and Portugal at Allianz Arena in Munich.

De la Fuentes has called upon forwards Lamine Yamal, Samuel Omorodion and Nico Williams; midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Pedri; defenders Pedro Porro and Pau Cubarsi; and goalkeepers Unai Simon and David Raya.

The 63-year-old has also recalled midfielders Isco and Gavi to the team after lengthy absences. Gavi last played for Spain in November 2023 before an anterior cruciate ligament injury sidelined him for several months.

Isco, meanwhile, returns to the national team fold after a six-year absence. The 32-year-old enjoyed a brilliant individual season with Real Betis, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in 32 appearances as they reached the Conference final and finished sixth in La Liga.

Spain saw off the Netherlands 5-4 on penalties in the quarterfinals after both sides played out a 3-3 draw in regulation time.

La Roja will be hoping to beat France in the semi-final, with the Nations League final scheduled to take place in Munich on Sunday, 8 June, while the third-place match will take place in Stuttgart on the same day.
