Salah makes history with record third PFA Men’s Player of the Year Award

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah etched his name into the history books on Tuesday after winning the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year award, Afrosport reports.

The Egyptian became the first player to win the honour three times, having played a pivotal role in guiding Liverpool to the 2024–25 Premier League title.

The 33-year-old scooped both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker Award last season, having netted 29 goals and provided 18 assists across 38 league appearances.

His outstanding performances saw him edge out team-mate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice for the prestigious honour.

This latest recognition crowns a near-perfect campaign for the Egypt international, who also took home the Premier League Player of the Season award and was named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.

Unsurprisingly, Salah was also included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, voted for by the players. The line-up featured a heavy presence from champions Liverpool and runners-up Arsenal.

Liverpool’s contingent included Salah, Mac Allister, Virgil van Dijk, and Ryan Gravenberch, while Arsenal were represented by Declan Rice, William Saliba, and Gabriel.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest saw two surprise inclusions in goalkeeper Matz Sels and striker Chris Wood, both earning a place in the team for the first time. Isak and former Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez completed the XI.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers was named the PFA Men’s Young Player of the Year. The 23-year-old impressed with eight goals and ten assists in 37 league appearances, becoming the fifth Villa player to win the award—joining the likes of Andy Gray, Gary Shaw, Ashley Young, and James Milner.

Rogers saw off strong competition from Arsenal duo Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, Bournemouth alumni Dean Huijsen and Kerkez, as well as ex-Ipswich striker Liam Delap, now with Chelsea.
