Real Madrid agree deal to sign Mastantuono from River Plate

Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Argentine teenager Franco Mastantuono from River Plate for 45 million, Afrosport reports.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has penned a six-year deal running until June 2031 and will head to the United States to play with Los Blancos at the FIFA Club World Cup.

He is the third summer signing for Madrid after Trent Alexander-Arnold from Premier League clubs Liverpool and Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth respectively.

“Mastantuono will be a player at our club for the next six seasons, from 14 August 2025 to 30 June 2031,” read a Real Madrid statement.

Meanwhile, River Plate in their statement said: “Thank you, Franco, for your performance and talent, it has been a pride to see you grow at the club. We wish you all the best in this new era, which comes after the Club World Cup.”

Mastantuono came through River Plate’s academy and made his first-team debut in January 2024, making a total of 61 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.

He has also earned one cap for the Argentina national team, featuring in the 1-0 win over Chile in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last Friday.
