Quansah joins Leverkusen from Liverpool in £35 million deal

Chelsea complete £60 million signing of Joao Pedro from Brighton

Jarell Quansah has joined Bayer Leverkusen from Liverpool on a five-year deal worth £35 million, Afrosport reports.

The 22-year-old came through the Liverpool academy and made 58 appearances for the club, scoring three goals, winning the EFL Cup in 2024 under Jurgen Klopp and the Premier League under Arne Slot.

Quansah’s move is the third deal between Liverpool and Leverkusen this summer after the Reds signed midfielder Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong for a combined £146 million.

“He has already made an impressive impact in a Liverpool defence dominated by world-class players,” Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said.

“With Jarell, our defence gains significant dynamism, pace and toughness in tackling, and he’s another very important building block for the future.”

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi due to uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate, who has one year left on his current contract at Anfield.
