Paris Saint-Germain has announced that captain and defender Marquinhos has been ruled out for the next couple of weeks after picking up a thigh injury, Afrosport reports.
The 31-year-old Brazilian has been ever-present for the French capital outfit since joining from AS Roma in 2013, making 495 appearances, scoring 42 goals, providing 12 assists, and winning 35 titles, including the elusive UEFA Champions League last season.
He has sustained the injury ahead of this weekend’s Ligue 1 clash with Auxerre at the Parc des Princes and will miss next week’s crunch Champions League clash with Barcelona.
Marquinhos joins PSG’s growing injury list that includes Joao Neves, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele.
“Joao Neves, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele are continuing their rehabilitation protocols. Marquinhos will undergo treatment on a left thigh injury over the next few weeks,” read a club statement.
