Nottingham Forest have appointed former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou as new manager, Afrosport reports.
Postecoglou takes charge at Forest on a two-year deal until 2027, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo after the Portuguese was sacked on Monday, following growing tensions with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Marinakis has long admired Postecoglou, whose family also hail from Greece, and the 60-year-old beat other targets to the role after discussions with the club accelerated on Tuesday morning. He will be joined at the City Ground by Mile Jedinak, Sergio Raimundo, Nick Montgomery and Rob Burch as part of his backroom staff.
“We are bringing a coach to the Club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies,” Marinakis said. “His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.
“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies. Ange has the credentials and the track-record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey.” The Australian’s first match in charge is scheduled to be away at Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime.
Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the Club’s First Team Head Coach.

Postecoglou joined Spurs in the summer of 2023 after a successful spell at Celtic. He led the north London club to a fifth-place finish in his debut campaign but suffered a slump the following season, with Tottenham finishing 17th.
He guided them to Europa League triumph, beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final at San Mames in May, ending Spurs’ 17-year wait for a title. However, Tottenham parted ways with the Australian 16 days later, before appointing Thomas Frank as new boss.
Forest are 10th in the standings, having won just one of their opening three league games. Postecoglou is expected to lead the team out against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this Saturday.
