Osimhen strikes again as Galatasaray power past Goztepe to remain top of Super Lig

Victor Osimhen was on the scoresheet on Sunday as Galatasaray claimed a 3–1 comeback win over Goztepe in their Turkish Super Lig clash, Afrosport reports.

The visitors made a bright start, silencing the home fans when Efkan Bekiroglu gave Goztepe the lead in the sixth minute at Rams Park.

Their advantage, however, was short-lived. Osimhen pounced on a defensive mistake, rounded the goalkeeper, and calmly slotted in the equaliser — his third goal in two games after scoring a brace against Bodo/Glimt in midweek.

Osimhen’s goal was his ninth of the season for club and country. The Nigerian now has three goals in the Super Lig to go with his three in the Champions League.

Goztepe looked organised despite the setback but were reduced to ten men just before half-time when defender Malcom Bokele Mputu was shown a second yellow card for catching Osimhen in the face with a flailing elbow.

Galatasaray made the extra man count after the restart. Gabriel Sara put them ahead in the 63rd minute, before Mauro Icardi struck three minutes later to seal a comfortable victory for the reigning champions — their third straight win in all competitions.

The result maintains Galatasaray’s unbeaten start and keeps the Istanbul giants top of the Super Lig with 28 points, five clear of second-placed Trabzonspor. Goztepe, meanwhile, dropped into sixth on 16 points after suffering only their second defeat of the season.
