Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has undergone successful surgery on a serious hamstring injury he picked up while on international duty, Afrosport reports.
The Nottingham Forest fullback underwent the procedure on Tuesday and has begun rehabilitation process to get back to full fitness.
Aina suffered the injury last Tuesday, during Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifying fixture against South Africa in Bloemfontein. He was forced off after a challenge from a Bafana Bafana defender at the Toyota Stadium, and subsequently replaced by Bright Osayi-Samuel in the 10th minute.
Test carried out on his return to Nottingham, confirmed that the Nigeria international had sustained a hamstring problem and required surgery.
The 28-year-old is expected to be sidelined for about three months and is a doubt for this year’s Africa Cup of Nations set to take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
He made three Premier League appearances for Forest before the setback and reports suggest he could be temporarily removed from their squad list until his return.
