Nomvemve replaces Nsua, to battle Michael for middleweight title at EFC 125 main event

Defending middleweight champion Luke Michael has accepted to fight Siyakudumiso Nomvemve in the main event at EFC 125, set to take place on Thursday, 3 July, at the World Sports Betting Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa, Afrosport reports.

Michael was initially billed to fight top contender Shadrack Nsua, but organisers have ruled the South African out of the bout as he has failed to recover in time following his involvement in a motor accident.

Nsua and his fiancée reportedly suffered injuries in a road collision, costing the Gqeberha-based fighter a shot at the title.

Meanwhile, Nomvemve, nicknamed ‘The Chef,’ has stepped in to battle Michael. He swiftly saw off veteran Mzwandile Hlongwa in his last appearance in the Hexagon.

Michael, who will enter the Hexagon for the 14th time, has seven wins and six losses in his previous 13 bouts. He comes up against Nomvemve, who has four wins and one loss as well as one no contest in his EFC career.

24 fighters will do battle inside the hexagon on the EFC 125 fight card, with five bouts on the main card, including the featherweight bout between Hanru Botha and Themba Zwane
