African table tennis giants Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Algeria have officially secured qualification for the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships in London after impressive displays at the 2025 ITTF Africa Championships in Tunis, Afrosport reports.
Egypt became the first men’s team to book their ticket, easing past Togo and Cote d’Ivoire. Nigeria soon followed with commanding 3-0 wins over Cameroon and South Africa in Group B.
Morocco also progressed after strong victories against both nations, setting up a group decider with Nigeria. Algeria and hosts Tunisia completed the men’s qualifiers by topping Groups C and D, respectively.

The women’s competition produced a similar outcome, with Egypt, Nigeria, and Algeria all sealing qualification. Uganda’s emerging women’s team also joined them, marking a breakthrough moment for the East African country.
The ITTF World Team Championships will take place in London from 28 April to 10 May 2026, marking 100 years since both the World Championships and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) were founded in the British capital.
A total of 64 teams per gender will compete at the centenary edition—52 earning places through continental championships, 11 via world rankings as of November 2025, and one automatic spot for hosts England.
The 2026 event promises to be a landmark celebration of global table tennis, as the sport returns to its historic birthplace for what is expected to be a once-in-a-century spectacle.
