Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi is reportedly edging closer to a move to Turkish giants Besiktas for a €9.5 million transfer from Leicester City, Afrosport reports.
While a final deal has not yet been completed, personal terms are believed to be have been agreed, and the midfielder is expected to travel to Istanbul in the coming days to undergo a medical.
The 28-year-old has a contract at Leicester until 2027 and was the subject of interest from multiple clubs this summer, including Real Betis and Fenerbahce. However, it is Besiktas, led by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who have emerged as frontrunners after accelerating talks over the past week.
Ndidi is said to have reached a mutual agreement with Leicester to pursue the move, with the two clubs settling on a fee below the £9m release clause triggered by the Foxes’ relegation.
Sources close to the negotiations say Ndidi will sign a three-year deal, with an option for a fourth season. A medical is scheduled for Thursday, pending the finalisation of contract details.
He joined the Foxes from Genk in January 2017 for £17m and is set to leave the King Power Stadium after eight-and-a-half years. He appeared in 303 games for the club, scoring 18 goals and winning the FA Cup and EFL Championship.
Ndidi featured 30 times for Leicester during the 2024-25 campaign, contributing one goal and five assists. Despite his efforts, the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League, marking the end of an era at the King Power Stadium.
If finalised, the move will mark a significant step in Besiktas’ midfield rebuild under Solskjaer. The former Manchester United manager is understood to view Ndidi as a key piece of his tactical plans, valuing his experience and composure in high-pressure situations.
