Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $35,000 for failing to leave the court “in a timely manner” and tossing the ball into the stands following his ejection on Thursday, Afrosport reports.
The 23-year-old picked up two technical fouls and was ejected in Minnesota’s 111-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena after arguing with a referee.
The Olympic gold medaliist reportedly “directed profanity towards an official” following a non-foul call in the third quarter as he felt Lakers guard Gabe Vincent had fouled him on a drive. He and Jarred Vanderbilt (Lakers) had each received a technical foul earlier in the game for shoving each other.
Joe Dumars, NBA Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, announced the sanction on Saturday after Edwards sat out Friday’s contest at the Utah Jazz due to a one-game suspension for racking up 16 technical fouls this season.

The former No. 1 pick has received several fines this season for different offences, including using profane language during postgame interviews and making obscene gestures on the court.
Edwards received his sixth fine of the season, with his total fine this campaign currently at $320,000. His suspension will increase by one game for every two additional technical fouls he receives going forward.
The Timberwolves (32-29) are ninth in the Eastern Conference and are on the road at the Phoenix Suns (28-32) on Sunday.
