The Los Angeles Lakers were made to rue their missed free throws as a late 3-pointer from Franz Wagner handed the Orlando Magic a 119-118 win over the 17-time NBA Champions at the Crypto.com Arena on Thursday night.

Following two missed free throws from Anthony Davis, Wagner hit a three with 2.5 seconds to go, snapping the Lakers’ six-game winning run for the Magic, who were without three of their starters in their third NBA game in four nights.
The Germany international made franchise history, scoring 15 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter, adding 11 assists for Orlando, which claimed its seventh win in eight games. Jalen Suggs added 23 points, and Moritz Wagner finished with a season-high 19.

Davis got 39 points and nine rebounds for the Lakers, LeBron James had a near triple-double with 31 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, while rookie Dalton Knetch had 17.
Elsewhere, the San Antonio Spurs rallied from a 15-point deficit in the first quarter to beat the Utah Jazz 126-118 at the Frost Bank Center.
The Spurs, who were without last season’s NBA Rookie of the Year, Victor Wembanyama, for the third straight game due to a right knee contusion, were down by 16 points heading into the halftime break. However, a brilliant second quarter, saw them hold Utah to 22 points before blistering the visitors 41-29 in the fourth.

San Antonio were led by a 25-point and 10-rebound double-double from Harrison Barnes, Zach Collins and Stephon Castle both dropped 18 points apiece and Chris Paul finished with 13 points and 10 assists.
Lauri Markkanen scored 27 points and Keyonte George added 19 for the Jazz, who lost their fourth straight.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors, who welcomed forward Scottie Barnes back to the lineup after spending the last three weeks out with an orbital fracture, saw off the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-105 at the Scotiabank Arena.
Toronto won back-to-back games for the first time this season with RJ Barrett finishing with a game-high 31 points, Barnes added 17, and Jakob Poeltl had a 15-point and 12-rebound double-double.

Anthony Edwards had 26 points for the Timberwolves, who lost for the first time in three games, Julius Randle got 23 points, and Jaden McDaniels added 22.
Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball starred with a combined 73 points as the Charlotte Hornets overcame the Detroit Pistons 123-121 after overtime to snap their two-game losing run.

Miller finished with a career-high 38 points, Ball got 35, Cody Martin added 15 points off the bench, Grant Williams poured in 12 points and Moussa Diabate grabbed a game-high 16 boards.
