Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has announced that Nathan Ake will be out of action for up to 11 weeks due to a foot injury, Afrosport reports.
The 30-year-old Dutch defender of Ivorian heritage came off at half-time in City’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Plymouth Argyle last week and has undergone surgery to correct the problem.
Ake has had to deal with multiple injuries during his time at the Etihad Stadium and is effectively ruled out for the rest of the season. He however might return to action for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States in June.
“10-11 weeks they said to me [to be out]. When you have surgery it’s serious. He has struggled a lot this season with the problems in his feet,” Guardiola said ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.
