Morocco’s Adli joins Bournemouth for £25m from Leverkusen

Bournemouth have completed the signing of Morocco international Amine Adli in a £25 million deal from Bayer Leverkusen, Afrosport reports.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Cherries and becomes the club’s first-ever Moroccan player.

Adli had interest from other top European clubs, including Marseille, but the winger opted to sign for Bournemouth, becoming their sixth summer signing. He joins the likes of Eli Junior Kroupi, Adrien Truffert, Djordje Petrovic, Bafode Diakite and Ben Gannon Doak as the latest arrivals at the Vitality Stadium.

“I’m very proud first of all to play for a club like Bournemouth,” he told the club website. “I was looking at my next move and I felt like Bournemouth was the perfect place for me.

“The people around give me a lot of confidence here and I’m very impressed with the facilities. The people at the club are full of love, so I’m very happy and proud to play for Bournemouth and hopefully achieve good things.”

Adli joined Leverkusen in August 2021 from Toulouse after leading the French club to the playoffs and being named the Ligue 2 Player of the Season. He scored 23 goals and registered 24 assists in 143 games for Leverkusen and was part of the squad that won their first-ever Bundesliga title in 2023-24, finishing the entire season unbeaten.

Born in France, he switched his allegiance to Morocco and made his international debut in September 2023, earning 15 caps and scoring once.

Adli could make his Bournemouth debut this weekend when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers in their second Premier League game of the new season.
