In an effort to garner as much support as possible for their historic World Cup semi-final match against France, the Moroccan Football Federation FRMF has decided to provide 13,000 free tickets to supporters ready to cheer the Atlas Lions.
Following suit, the country’s national airline, Royal Air Maroc, has decided to allow 30 flights to Qatar at reduced rates as a means of showing support for their football team.
With their sights set on the final, the North African country are striving to improve on their already visible and colourful never-ending support in Qatar.
Morocco are the only African team from the initial five contingents remaining in the tournament, and they are the first African team to have made it this far.
Later today, the Atlas Lions will take on the defending champions France in the second semifinal, which will take place at the Al Bayt Stadium at 8 p.m. West African Time.
Walid Regragui and his boys have broken and set many records in Qatar thus far, becoming the first African team to top their World Cup group since Nigeria in 1998 and also the first African team to make it to the semi-final of the competition.
Morocco progressed from the group stages in amazing style, finishing top of Group F by defeating the second-ranked team in the world Belgium and North American qualifiers Canada along with a goalless stalemate against 2018 finalist Croatia.
They continued their fairytale run by defeating 2010 champions Spain on penalties, thanks to heroics from Spanish-based goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
Bounou continued his heroics in their quarter-final defeat of Portugal, keeping a clean sheet with a barrage of incredible saves.
Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri leapt for a record-breaking height of 2.78 meters to get the all-important goal with a well-taken header past Diogo Costa.
