Michail Antonio has left West Ham United after he failed to renew his contract with the Premier League club, Afrosport reports.
The 35-year-old Jamaican forward made headlines last December after he was involved in a road accident on the way home from training, which saw him fracture his thigh bone in four places.
He never played for the Hammers after the incident, with his last appearance coming in a 3-1 defeat at relegated Leicester City in December. The club, in a statement, said they will continue to offer the needed support towards his rehabilitation.
“Michail will always be a much-loved and respected member of the West Ham United family. As has been the case since December, the Club will continue to support and assist him in his ongoing rehabilitation, offering him access to training, facilities and medical care if needed,” read a club statement.
“Dialogue continues over his future involvement with the Club in an alternative capacity – including one that would enable others to benefit from his experience and leadership qualities – and he will forever hold a special place in our 130-year history.
“Everyone at West Ham United would like to sincerely thank Michail for his outstanding, dedicated service in a Claret and Blue shirt over the last ten years. Further recognition of his magnificent contribution will appear across Club channels in the coming days and weeks.”

Antonio joined the East London club from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and scored 83 goals and 42 assists in 323 appearances. He is their all-time leading scorer in the Premier League with 68 goals in 268 outings.
He was also part of the West Ham team that won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023, ending a 43-year wait for silverware.
