Manchester United have agreed a deal with Brentford to sign Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo, Afrosport reports.
The Red Devils will pay an initial £65 million fee to Brentford, with add-ons pushing the total up to £71 million. The payment is reported to be spread across four instalments after an agreement between both clubs.
Brentford had already turned down two earlier offers, but United were confident in the third and improved offer submitted to the London club on Thursday.
Mbeumo, who has shown strong interest in joining the 20-time English champions all summer, now sees his dream move to Old Trafford come to life. He is reported to have agreed a five-year deal until 2030, with the option for a further year.
The 25-year-old forward leaves Brentford after six memorable seasons, having joined from French club Troyes in 2019. He played a major role in helping the Bees secure promotion to the Premier League in 2021.
The left-footed forward has 70 goals and 51 assists in over 240 games for the Bees. However, he enjoyed his most fruitful outing last campaign, bagging 20 goals in 38 league appearances.
He is expected to undergo his medical later this week, becoming United’s third signing of the summer after Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.
All being well, Mbeumo will link up with Ruben Amorim’s squad on their pre-season tour in the United States, part of the Premier League’s Summer Series.
