Three-time Olympic medallist Noah Lyles edged Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo to win the highly anticipated men’s 200-metre event at the Monaco Diamond League on Friday, Afrosport reports.
Both sprinters have built up a healthy rivalry over the last year, with Tebogo setting an African record of 19.46 seconds to beat Lyles and win gold in the 200m race at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
However, the 27-year-old American got the better of the Motswana at Stade Louis II, clocking a time of 19.88s in his first race of the season.
Tebogo, meanwhile, ran 19.97s to finish second, while Zimbabwean Makanakaishe Charamba, in his Diamond League debut, finished third in 19.99s.
