Liverpool have advanced talks to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal that could be worth more than £70 million, Afrosport reports.
The 23-year-old striker of Cameroonian heritage is also of Interest to Newcastle United and Frankfurt have reportedly rejected a £70 million bid from the Magpies.
According to BBC Sport, Liverpool are expected to table a higher offer and hope to wrap up the deal this weekend.
Ekitike scored 22 goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions last season as Frankfurt finished third in the Bundesliga and reached the Europa League quarter-finals.
Liverpool have also shown interest Alexander Isak by making an approach to Newcastle for the Swedish striker of Eritrean heritage who scored 27 goals for the Magpies last term.
The reigning Premier League champions have been very active in the summer transfer window and have already purchased Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
