Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after reportedly rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament, Afrosport reports.
Martinez was tearful as he was stretchered off after twisting his knee the wrong way in an attempt to beat Senegalese forward Ismaila Sarr to the ball during United’s 2-0 home loss to Crystal Palace.
The United No. 6 was replaced by Dutch defender Matthijs De Ligt in the 82nd minute but left many fans inside Old Trafford worried about the nature of his injury.
The 27-year-old is now expected to miss the remainder of the season following the ACL injury, bringing an abrupt end to his campaign.

The Argentina international has been in good form for United under Ruben Amorim, enjoying his best attacking return with the club, having scored two goals and provided two assists in 32 matches in all competitions.
His injury adds an additional problem to a United side currently a shadow of themselves as they sit 13th in the Premier League on 29 points after 24 games, 12 points away from the top four.
