Kylian Mbappe was on the scoresheet for the fourth consecutive La Liga game as Real Madrid lost to fierce city rivals Atletico Madrid 5-2 in the derby at the Metropolitano on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
Robin Le Normand broke the deadlock in the 14th minute before Mbappe equalised 11 minutes later with an assist from Arda Guler for his eighth league goal of the season in seven games. It was also the Frenchman’s sixth league goal on the road in the Spanish top flight, putting him two ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland for most league goals away from home in Europe’s top five leagues this term.

Guler put Los Blancos 2-1 up in the 36th minute but it was shortlived as Alexander Sorloth made it 2-2 in added time of the first half, moments after Clement Lenglet had a goal disallowed by VAR for handball.
Former Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez extended Atleti’s lead with a brace in the 51st minute (penalty) and 63rd minute before French veteran Antoine Griezmann scored the fifth and final goal in the 93rd minute.
The result ended Real Madrid’s 100% start to the La Liga season under new head coach Xabi Alonso while Diego Simeone’s men got their first derby win in the league since September 2023.
