Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon and Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia were unstoppable on Saturday, cruising to victory in their respective events at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland, Afrosport reports.
Kipyegon stormed to glory in the women’s 3000 metres, setting a new African and meeting record with a blistering time of 8:07.04 – which was also a Diamond League record.
The three-time Olympic champion finished nearly 200m clear of her closest challenger, though she narrowly missed out on the world record of 8:06.11, set by China’s Wang Junxia in 1993.
