Nottingham Forest have sacked Ange Postecoglou shortly after their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
The Australian’s dismissal comes only 39 days after his appointment, making him the shortest-serving manager in Premier League history.
Postecoglou, who was hired on 9 September to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, failed to win any of his eight matches in charge, managing just two draws and six defeats across all competitions.
Under his guidance, Forest collected only one point from five league games and now sit 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone.
A club statement read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou’s short tenure began with a 3-0 loss to Arsenal and a League Cup exit to Swansea City. Despite drawing against Burnley and Real Betis, Forest then suffered defeats to Sunderland, Midtjylland, and Newcastle before Saturday’s loss to Chelsea proved decisive.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis was seen leaving his seat after Chelsea’s second goal at the City Ground, signalling the end of Postecoglou’s reign.
Forest will now begin their search for a third manager this season, with Fulham boss Marco Silva and former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche among the early contenders.
